PLG #33 and DDC # 12 - SWEET Dandelions!! (12 x 12 Layout using a card sketch)

As I type this in REAL time of 11:00pm at night... I realize that 1/2 the week is over and the 3 day weekend is almost upon us.  Yay!!  What big plans do you all have?  We are supposed to have just one nice day of weather.  We are visiting the In-laws at the beach 1 day... and hoping to find a new adventure hike to take the kids on another.  And of course I will be crafting in my down time.  Oh.... and I am learning to love reading books again.  Yes MOM!!  You read that right... I am about 1/2 way through "The Fiddler" by Beverly Lewis.  It keeps my attention... and that is the whole idea.  I am not going to jinx myself.  The next "Book Report" you get from me is when I actually finish the book.

Tonight I have a layout to bring you for a couple different challenges.

Close-up of digi image used.  "Boy with Flowers" from Digi Darlas.  I colored him with SU pencils and then went over with a blender pen.  I also fussy cut him out and popped him up with some dimensionals so he stands out a bit.

Close-up of my handcut dandelions.  I just took my 2 different scallop punches, punched a scallop and then cut along each petal towards the center to create a dandelion like image.

Over at Paper Lovin' Gals 33... we have a black white inspirational photo of dandelions in their "Naked" state as my son would say.  Well along with my black, white, red and yellow.. I was inpsired to show some bright and cheerful dandelions.  Here is the inspirational photo to follow so you can join us!!  You have until Wednesday, May 30th at 8pm PST to enter.

On a bittersweet note... this will be the last PLG challenge for a while.  At least through summer.  Life has taken over for a few of us.  But we will come back with spunk and excitement!!

Over at Digi Darlas Challenges # 12  ...my friend KAREN came up with her very first CARD SKETCH to use along with a Digi Darla image for their latest challenge and DT call!!  Well... I was very excited that I could use her sketch and make a scrapbook layout with it.  The sketch and image that I chose is sooo perfect to tell the story of my son picking dandelions while his Dad was mowing the lawn.  I caught him doing this and of course grabbed my camera.  He was so serious and then he saw me and was sooo proud!  He said he was picking flowers for me.  :-)

Here is the card sketch to follow... Isn't this great????

I remember being scared to use digi images.  I always thought you could only use them in all Digital Layouts or cards.  Boy was I ever wrong!
I hope you like what you see and you have some time to join either of these challenges!!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

LMCB # 89 - Celebrating Mom or Someone Special (Older 12 x 12 layout)

Happiest Monday wishes to you!!  I'm a day behind in sharing with you the next challenge over at Lasting Memories Layout Challenges.

Our challenge this week is to do a layout
"Celebrating Mom's or Another Special Woman in your Life"
We're very excited to see what this week holds for our readers and if you have a special story to hear, please leave us a comment and share. This week, in honor of her birthday, Elizabeth is graciously offering up a $20 gift certificate to A2Z Scrapbooking!!

Need a boost? Here's a sketch by Ashley Horton to get you started if you need it!!

And here is my "Older Style" of scrapbooking layout to share.

I actually created this layout about 6 years ago.  So... I didn't take the "Challenge" of the challenge... but didn't want you all to miss out on participating yourselves.  My Mom's birthday is near Mother's day... so we usually do a combined celebration every year.  My parents are very active in their retirement years... so to get a day on the calendar with them is sometimes hard to accomplish.
Ohhh... the things that I would not do today when creating a page.  Sort of fun to look back and see how we improve with our crafting endeavors.  I am mostly noticing the stamped images and how they were not inked thoroughly.  And eyelets... ohhhh how I have so many to use!!  Well enough of critiquing my old work.  It makes me want to completely redo a whole album.  But that is silly.  What's the point?  :-)

So head on over to Lasting Memories this week and show us how you Celebrate your Mom, Mother's Day or Someone Special in your life!  Can't wait to see!!
Thanks for stopping by!!

Pals Paper Arts Sketch # 135 - "Celebrate" card

Another quick post for you today.  I made this birthday card for my Mom
following the current PPA 135 sketch challenge.  It's fun to join challenges that I always see, but don't always have the time.  Always love their challenges.
When I think of my Mom (along with my Dad)... I think of "Celebrating the Simple things."  They are TRUE examples of this.  They do what they want to do when they want to do it, with whom they want and basically enjoy each day as it happens.  I have learned a lot from them.  Life is what matters most.  It's too short to sweat the small stuff.

Soo... here is my card...

and their sketch...

LMCB # 88 "A Fish Tale" (12 x 12 layout)

Happy Mother's Day!!  Whether you are a Mom, Grandmother or Mother Figure to someone special, I hope this day finds you doing at least one tiny thing for yourself and that you are shown love and appreciation!

I finally got to my Craft Desk!  So with that I am here to bring you the latest challenge
over at Lasting Memories!  "Something smells Fishy!!"
Whether it's a prank layout, a fishing layout, a TALL fishy tale or a true 'stinky' layout, we are excited to see what you can come up with!

Here is my creation...

And some close-ups of Journaling, funny Fishing Hat and the Fishing pole with added thread.

The quick story is... the kids and their Dad fished for a few hours with the only result being a SMALL bull head fish.  :-(  Oh well.  Better luck next time.  I added the hat to my Husband's head at the request of my son.  After I got in on there, I decided I didn't love it.  But taking it off the layout was not an option.  So there it stays.  It's funny now.  I also added brown linen thread to the fishing pole to look line fishing line.
Sorry for the slight blur to the photos.  Late night photography!

You also have a chance to win another giveaway this week from Kimberly! Kimberly is giving away an awesome "HOME ACCENTS" cricut cartridge!!
You have until Saturday, May 19 at 9pm EST to link up HERE.

I am also entering this over at Artful Delight - # 20 May Sketch Challenge
The only part that I changed about this sketch is where I put my Title and Journaling.  I wanted 6 photos... so improvised that part a bit!  I have won and purchased some of Leeanne's kits.  I love them.  Go check out her stuff !!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your day!!

Supplies:

PLG #30 along with FM #57 - Pop-Up Hot Air Balloons (Card)

Happy Thursday and WELCOME to another FUN challenge at Paper Lovin' Gals!
This week we are doing something a little different.
We are joining the FRIDAY MASHUP to mash up a challenge!
Picture Inspiration #30 along with Friday Mashup #57

1.  Use the below photo as inspiration for your creation. (Colors, theme, cookies etc...)
or
2.  Make a Mother's Day Themed project
or
3.  Make a Pop-up Card

OR... pick any sort of combination of the above or combine all 3 for the ultimate MASHUP!!

And here is my creation...

I used the Lighter Pink, the Melon Mambo and the Yellow colors from the cookies for my Hot Air Balloon colors.  I also included the pink with polka dots design on my bigger balloon.  And then of course I POPPED up my Hot Air Balloons for a fun 3-d effect.  This was really easy to do.  Simply punch 5 to 6 circles all in the same size and fold each one in half.  Adhere right side of one circle to the left side of the other.  Continue this pattern until you reach the desired number of layers.  Adher flat side to bade of the card.  EASY!!  I also used the cupcake punch for the basket part of the Hot Air Balloon.  I punched it twice so I could arrange in a layered fashion to look like the strings were inside the basket.  I had fun making this card and it was pretty simple.

Hope you find some time to join our challenge this week for PLG 30!!  You have until Wednesday, May 9th at 8pm PST to link up your photo inspired or mashuped project!!

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

The Pink Elephant # 146 - "Springtime"
