Lasting Memories Ch 48 - It's all about the TITLE

Hi all bloggin' friends!!  Today over at Lasting Memories Ch. 48... it's all about showing off that TITLE on your layouts.
I have a layout I actually did a few years ago of a short weekend trip my Hubby and I took to the Oregon Coast.  This is Newport, Or.  If you haven't been... I highly suggest.  It's like your own outdoor aquarium and awesome coastline... and places to wine and dine.

Come on over to Lasting Memories and link up your layout that shows off yor title big and bold... or a unique way of titling your page.  Can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Thanks for visiting!!

PPC Specialty Ch. #8 - Snow Lake Hiking Layout

Good morning to everyone!!  I have a sick kiddo and had internet connection problems last night... so I am hoping my day can only get better!!  So far so good... as I am chatting to all of you!
Today over at Picture Perfect Creations...crafty challenges we have a FUN and EASY Specialty challenge for you!!
Simply create any kind of project using 2 Ribbons and 3 Buttons.
I took the opportunity to create a Scrap Layout.  This is a picture of my DH and DD in 2004 on our hike to Snow Lake in the Cascade Mountains.  6 miles of steep incline, rocks and switchbacks... and he carried her the whole time!  It was also 88 degrees and MUGGY.  I'm surprised we actually did this... but I guess we were younger (ha) and we were determined to see the end result.  This photo doesn't do the scenery justice... but daughter is happy as a clam!!  She just got to sit back and ride along.

My Taffeta Ribbon and Baker's Twine are my 2 "ribbon" choices and then I have 1 button in the center of my ribbon bow and 2 buttons tacking down the left part of my title.

I followed Sketch 7.14 from Sketchy Thursdays this week!!  I am loving their sketches lately. My title and the overall layout is sort of "Enlarged" from the original sketch... but you get the idea.

I will be adding a 2nd page to this layout... for I have lots of fun pictures and more of a story to tell.  So be on the lookout for that soon!!

Come on over and join us for PPC Specialty Ch 8 this week.  Any sort of crafty project allowed!!  As long as it has 2 ribbons and 3 buttons on it somewhere!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Lasting Memories Ch #47 - Distressing - Life Gives you many reasons to smile...

... and my kids are one of mine!!
Good Sunday morning to you!!  Today at Lasting Memories we have a "Distressing" challenge for you!!  Create a layout and add some sort of distressing to it.  This could be tearing edges, inking sides of paper, adding ink any ol' place here and there for a distressed/messy "artful" look.  The Design Team gals have many wonderful examples to share with you.  Go check them out!
Here is mine...

I will share with you... that I am not a huge fan of distressing... mostly for the reason that my "Tears" don't come out right (in my eyes) and every time I do distress something... I want to fix it and go for the more clean look.  I need to experiment a little more.  This was a good challenge to get me to do something a little different!!
On my layout above, I inked the sides of the journaling pieces, the edges of the Crumb Cake cardstock behind the photo... and then I added some brown distressing ink on the background paper itself just for some highlights behind the journaling.  Everything else is pretty "Clean" and simple.  This is one of my most favorite photos of my kids together.  Kept the whole layout on the neutral side as to not "Overpower" the photo is itself.
Enjoy... and go check out Lasting Memories Challenge 47 and show us your distressing talent!!
Have a great day!!

Supplies:  All Stampin' Up
Cardstock:  Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
Ink:  Chocolate Chip, Basic Brown, Brocade Blue
Embellies:  1 1/4" circle punch, bashful blue brads, white gel pen, photo corner punch

LMCH 46 - MOSAIC - Goodbye Summer Beach BBQ 12 x 12 double layout.

Welcome to Sunday!!  Which means it's time for another layout challenge over at Lasting Memories!! And a WINNER for last weeks blog candy!!  This week we are challenging you to show us the MOSAIC technique.  This is not my usual choice of ways to scrap my photos.. .but as I got going ... I felt like I was putting together a jigsaw puzzle and even did a DOUBLE page layout!  :-)  It was fun!!!!

(as always... click on image for better view)

Left Page...

Right Page

I feel like I am "Wishing Summer Away" with my recent End of summer scrap layouts that I have posted.  NO GOSH NOT AT ALL.  Summer is my favorite time of year... so I am naturally going to those pictures and scrapping them.  I have ALOT!!  I started as a chronological scrapper... but went crazy trying to keep up.  So I am now an Inspirational scrapper.  Try this if you find yourself overwhelmed or in a slump.  The most important thing is to get your memories preserved and it shouldn't be a "Job."

I  had alot of pictures for this layout... and with the linear look of Mosaic... thought it brought all my pics together well.  You don't need alot of embellishments for this kind of layout, for the mosaic look sort of "Outshines" eveyrthing.  I would say my one bit advice for attempting this look is to pick ONE size of square and stick with it.  All of mine are 1" x 1".  Even the colored pieces going across the bottom and top of the pages.  Let's see what you can do.  I would LOVE to see!  If I can do this... YOU can do this.  Come on over and join the Lasting Memories 46 Mosaic challenge.  The DT has some GREAT things to show you as well.  Many different ideas!!
You have until Saturday, July 16th, 9:00pm EST to link up your layout.

And now for the WINNER of my Blog Candy... dum dee dee dum..........
