Lasting Memories Layout Ch. 42 - Create your own background using a punch!!

Hello friends!!  Today I am excited to share with you my layout for our next Lasting Memories Layout CH 42  that is happening right now!!  We were asked to create our own background using a punch!  I decided to make a "Scene" with my punches for my Hiking Wallace Falls layout.

The clouds are punched with the scallop circle punch from Stampin' Up and then cut in half.  I outlined the puffy part of the clouds with a brown marker to highlight them a little better.
The Trees are punched with the Double Photo Corner punch from Stampin' Up and then layered on top of eachother to create the "Tree top."

Everything else is cut by hand with paper cutter, craft blade etc.  I had alot of fun puting this together.  Normally, I would go right for my Cricut on something like this... but thinking outside the box and using punches was great.

I am also entering my layout into the "Fun In the Sun Ch." 9 over at Whimsical Wednesday .  Besides showing "Fun in the Sun", you also have to include STAMPING on your layout.  I have a couple stamps above and below 2 of the photos.  "Way to go" and "Bee Happy."

Believe it or not... this was an almost 80 degree day.  We headed for the Trees, Hills and the Falls!  Our first hike with our kids that we didn't have to worry about Baby packs, Jogger strollers or complaining.  :-)  Lots of water, snacks and stops to check out everything around us.  They made it 4 1/2 miles to the Mid-Falls point. We will wait a few years for the trek to the top.  It's another 4 miles one way and very steep switchbacks.
All in all a fun accomplishing day and I am happy to share with you.

Head on over to LASTING MEMORIES and show us what you can do with a punch on your background paper!!  The Design Team has some wonderful ideas to show you!!
You have until Saturday, June 18th 9:00pm EST to enter our challenge!!

THIS IS WONDERFUL, i loooove the paper piecing background--and I have never thought of using a corner punch for pine trees, that is so clever! The colors, and the way you put the photos in the middle just adds the perfect touch!

Wow Michele. So very creative. Great job with the pine trees. Who would have thought that the photo corners would make a great tree. And the clouds are perfect. I love the whole scene you created. It's the perfect background to the photos. Great job.

Fantastic 2 page layout! Love how the photos are the focus of it all but yet all the surrounding details really capture the essence of the camping experience and prop up the photos. Wonderful job.

I love how you have such a wonderful and fun scene, and then all the photos are together in one place. It really works well for my eye to be able to travel to different elements of the page.
