Life is an Adventure...

Well yes it is!!  Have been busy on the home front lately... so I rewarded myself by getting to my scrap desk today.  :)  It's also very rainy here... and I am missing the sunshine, the warmth and simply hanging with my family.  So I am reliving one of our favorite adventures... HIKING.

Here is a layout that I did about our hike to Cherry Creek Falls this past August.  It was muggy hot.  Not a very well marked trail... but once we found the prize at the end, we were happy.  Love finding and seeing things after a bout of exercise.  Advantages all around.

I'm up on the blog over at Sketches
in Thyme tomorrow (10/14) showcasing this great sketch from Shawn Lahr.
You have until the end of the month to play along.  :)

I am also showcasing a challenge from Lasting Memories LM 262 happening now until October 30th using the theme...  "Summer time Fun and use Paper Flowers."
Well it's our summer adventure and my sunshine is a "flower" along with an embellishment in the bottom right corner.
And then... to inspire me even further... I am joining a challenge involving 4 blogs!!  I was only able to follow 3 of the challenges... but so excited I managed.
Head on over to join...

Challenge YOUrself
I used photos with ME in them.  :)

You can see my Aqua and Pink washi tapes on bigger photo.  :)

And to follow this color combo.  Navy, yellow, caramel, aqua and pink.  Did just that.  :)

Thanks for stopping by.  Lots of inspiration to see... and challenges to join.  :)

Back to School...

Back to school has happened in our household and is happening in full force.  The kids don't have too much homework yet, but gosh... can I fill out any more paperwork and forms?  I sure hope not.  I appreciate the strong communication.  I'm just coming to terms that Summer has indeed concluded.

So with that said... it was my reveal day today for the 2nd week sketch at Sketches in Thyme.
I'm a tad late, for it's almost midnight where I live.

It was perfect for my kid's back to school / first day pics.

Here is the sketch to follow...  come on over to join us.  You have all month to get in on the action.  Super fun prize!!  Would love to see you join us.

Sketches in Thyme #164

The Frosted Designs Friday challenge also inspired me to complete my layout.
Their monthly theme is BACK TO SCHOOL.  You also have all month to join in on their fun.

Keep Calm and Hang On...

Well I am going to remain calm for the fact that I finally got to my craft room!  Where did the last few months go?  And in looking at this layout I did... where did the last 3 years go?  I swear I just printed these pictures last week.  Ugh!!
With that said... I am showcasing the newest sketch over at Sketches in Thyme!
This was perfect for my Before and After photos of a family photo op almost gone bad.  The stairs collapsed with all of us on them as the camera auto clicked at just the right time.  Too funny... but as you can see from some of our facial expressions, we all were not laughing.

Sketch # 160 by Rochelle Spears

Norah Jones Concert...

Happy Monday everyone!!  Today is my REVEAL day over at Sketches in Thyme.  I was honored to have been invited to stay on the Design Team as a Senior Maven.  :)  Great new things are happening over there.  We now have 4 sketch challenges during the month and a different design team for each.  LOTS of scrappy inspiration to see and get your MOJO going.
Come see what we are all doing.  Guaranteed to get your creative juices flowing.
Here is my reveal layout for SIT 144...

Here is the April Week 2 Sketch to follow... created by Rochelle Spears.  (Love her work)

Just love the rainbow of colors.  Of course I had to join!!

You need to use paper or embellishments that you have had in your stash for a long time.  Or scrap about something from a while ago.
Grab our blinkie

Well... the kit I used is an OLD "Me and My Big Ideas - Girls Night Out" kit.  It was given to me in 2010 as part of a Christmas gift.  My photos are also from a concert in 2012.  Not that long ago... but not by any means close to the current year.  The colored candied dots are the only semi new thing on the layout.

That's it for today.  I hope you have enjoyed what I had to share with you and you go check out some of these challenges.  :)
Until next time...

BAM! - Sketches in Thyme Feb. 1st sketch. + some help from Frosted Designs

And for my 2nd catch up post... I am up over on the Sketches in Thyme Sketch # 139 blog today.
This is my rendition of the February 1st sketch.  Absolutely love these sketches and am so glad when I can design with them.
You have until February 28th to join in on the fun!!

Our son had such a transitioning year in baseball last year.  He had only played one year of T-Ball and then moved up to Rookie league last year and long story short, we figured out that he is a hitter!!  So fun to watch.  His nick name just happens to be "Bam" from Bam Bam and The Flinstones.  When he started hitting the ball basically every single time up to bat... the nick name took on a new meaning.  Anxiously waiting for baseball season to begin this year.

Here is the Sketch designed by Bev Code.

I am also entering this in the current Frosted Designs Friday challenge.
It's all about DIRECTION!
My layout has many arrows and the phrase "Outta Here" indicating that the baseball was hit far and high.  :)
If you need some more ideas on their challenge... here is the exact description taken from the Frosted Designs blog.
Your project needs to have something indicating direction.  You can go literal and use arrows or get wordy and use directional words:  East, West, Up, Down, Over, Under, Left, Right....you get the idea.  You can even get a little creative and use a compass or weather vane....  You can interpret this any way you want, but be sure to explain it in your blog post if it's not really obvious!
Thanks again for coming by!  Much appreciated!!

And my reveal...

I had fun with this!!  Our daughter's 2nd ever Hip Hop dance recital this past summer.  She was super sick for 2 weeks prior.  We weren't sure if she could pull this off.  And she did!  She quite amazed us with her talents since her Mother and Father clearly do not have these skills.  LOL!  (Well maybe I do behind closed doors when no one is looking and the stereo is blasting.  :) )
Here is the sketch designed by BEV to follow...
This is the first of 2 sketches for the month of October.  Come play with us over at
Sketches in Thyme for your chance to win!  If anything, check out the amazing DT creations!
Thanks for stopping by!!  See you soon!
