A gift for my Dad - 16 x 16 framed layout for Scraptastic Club and Scrapfit

Boy do I ever feel like I have been absent from the blogging world!!  It's just been a few days... but as with all of you I'm sure, we had such a busy, yet very fulfilling Christmas holiday time!!
I have a fun layout to share with you today.  This is 16 x 16... which I have never done this big before.  I don't know if I've ever really seen this size??!!  I just knew that I had four 5 x 7 photos that I basically didn't want to take too much from when cropping.  When putting this all together, I just had to "Enlarge" my thought process.  :-)
My Dad turned 65 this year... and as you can see from the pics, this guy is non-stop.  He is probably more active than most 25 year olds.  And not only is he active, but he is very successful at what he does... and I don't really see him slowing down anytime soon.  He gives me all kinds of inspiration.  So... I wanted to commemorate how unique he is from the majority.  My mom suggested... so I went with it.  And Thank you to Karen and Denise for your opinions on my title choices!!

I based my layout from a challenge over at Scraptatstic Club .  This is for the December Challenge #2.
You had to:
Make a special page about 1 person.
With at least 4 pictures
Journaling
And the person's name in the title
I'm hoping to complete their 3 other challenges.  But thank you to them for pushing me in the right direction so far.

I am also entering this over at Scrapfit - Weekend warm-up 21.  Just link up one of your favorite layouts.  This is definitely at the top of my list!!

And... just another subtle reminder that over at Lasting Memories Layout Challenges... we are into the 2nd week of our "Holiday Cheer" challenge #69.  We are having a DT call and we have a Giveaway!!  Woo hoo!!  LOTS of reasons to get your scrap on and show us what you got!!  Hope to see you!!

Baby it's COLD outside!!  It has been cold enough to snow around here for that last 2 weeks... but no moisture in the air.  So just low temps, dry lips and frizzy hair!! ;-)  But I do have a layout to share with you for the newest Lasting Memories Layout Challenge #68.  This week's theme is "Winter Wonderland" and most importantly... we want to see those SNOWFLAKES!!

This is the first snowfall for us last year.  It happened right before Thanksgiving.  We only got about 3 1/2" total... but enough for the kids to get excited both at night and early the next morning!

AND... for this week's LMCB #68 challenge... there is a PRIZE to give away!  By little ol' me!!  So you must play with us this week!!  Two 6 x 6 mini decks of patterned paper from

I am also entering my layout in the 1st of 3 sketches for the month of December over at Sketches in Thyme Thursday Takes #62.  I always enjoy their sketches.  And here is that sketch...
2 of my photos are horizontal, so I varied the sketch a bit to stretch across the page and to drop my journaling down below.

And... I am submitting this layout to the The Paper Variety's  anything goes challenge!!  It's their last challenge of the year.  So they are going out with a bang.  They will back in January with fun things to share.

Lasting Memories Ch #67 - "Sentimental Journey" (12 x 12 x-mas Layout)

Good Sunday morning!  I am finally feeling like I've got my craft craving fulfilled!  2 creations in 2 days!  Yay!!  I'm in a Holly Jolly Christmas mood... so I hope you all don't mind seeing Holiday themed crafts for a while!!  Which brings me to share with you the next challenge for Lasting Memories Layout Challenges!!

LMCB #67  is all about sharing a favorite quote or sentiment on your layouts!!  Here is my layout to share...
I honestly had never heard of this quote... but saw it and knew exactly the photos I could use with it.  It is so ever true!!  It reads... "Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree.  In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall."  I loved it!!  These are photos of the first year that BOTH kids could decorate the tree together.  This was 2 years ago.  They of course can only reach 4 feet high... so we had to do some "Moving around" when they were not looking or our tree would have been bery bottom heavy!!  I love the innocence and excitement that kids have with the tree!  I will never forget how I felt growing up!  The exact same!
Sooo... go check out what our fabulous Lasting Memories Design Team has to share with you for this week's challenge!
I hope you can find time to come play with us!  All entries are due Saturday 12/10 at 9pm EST HERE!!  Hope to see you!!

I'm Playing Catch Up - Paper Lovin' Gals Ch # 8 "Colorful Christmas"

Fa la la la la.. la la... la. la!  Whew!  Boy have the Holidays hit my house ever so hard this last week!!  Lots of shopping, decorating, tree hunting...and that's on top of normal life.  We've got house lights to string up and x-mas cards to get out in the mail.  I know it's only the beginning of December... but our calendar tends to fill up fast... so getting 'er done so I can enjoy the Holiday and keep crafting too!!  :-)  With that said... I am few days late sharing with you the next challenge for Paper Lovin' Gals.  It's a very bright and colorful christmas photo inspiration!!  Show us what you SEE in the above photo and link up to PLG #8 by Tuesday 12/6 at 8pm PST for your chance to be honored with being a "Winner" or 1 of 2 "Runners up."
Here's is my take on the photo...

It's a gift card holder for one of our recipients this year on Christmas Day.  The main cardstock is from Stampin' Up... Not Quite Navy.. .and the rest of the elements are from a Stampin' Up Retired Simply Scrappin' Kit.  I apologize.. I don't recall the stamp set.. for I borrowed it.

Please go visit and check out what the wonderful PLG Design Team has to share with you.  So much inspritation!!
I hope you all find time to join us between now and TUESDAY 12/8 8pm PST!!!
Happy December!!
